AKRON – Six of the seven Franciscan men's cross country runners hit a personal-best at the All-Ohio Championships hosted by Akron, Saturday afternoon. The Barons finished seventh out of 18 Division III teams.
Leading the pack once again was sophomore Liam Galligan (Springfield, PA/Galligan Academy) who continues to have a stellar season for the Barons. Galligan shaved 1:14 off of his personal-best 8K time as he took second among Division III runners and ninth against the entire field with a time of 24:34.2. The race featured runners from all three NCAA divisions and the NAIA.
Sophomore Mark Borek (Hamburg, MI/Detroit Catholic Central) also turned in a personal-best as he was the 35th DIII runner to cross the line at 26:09.1, dropping his collegiate best by 31 seconds. Senior Nick Long (Youngstown, OH/Boardman) set his collegiate best in an 8K race with a time of 26:12.6 and was the 38th DIII runner.
Senior Grady Stuckman (Cincinnati, OH/Summit County Day School) was the 48th DIII runner across the line and set a personal best with a time of 26:32.8. Junior Matthew Crotteau (Metamora, IL/Metamora Township) was just three seconds off of his personal best as he finished with a time of 27:06.2 and was the 69th DIII runner across the finish line.
Freshman Mike Sobus (Charlotte, NC/Ardrey Kell) took 120th with a personal-best time of 29:36.3 and classmate Riley Brooks set a personal-best with a time of 33:27.2.
