Box Score STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan women's tennis team rolled to its ninth-straight win and seventh Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference victory as the Lady Barons swept Medaille, 9-0, Saturday afternoon.
The Lady Barons jumped out to a 3-0 lead after doubles as the Franciscan doubles continue to roll through their opponents. The Lady Barons have been stellar in the doubles this season as they have not dropped a match all year.
Senior Maria Binette and junior Madelyn Conrad once again set the tone at No. 1 doubles as they finished off their opponents 8-1 in No. 1 doubles. Junior Grace Hammel and sophomore Anna Victoria Maria Haddad were next off of the court with a 8-1 win as well at No. 2 doubles. Seniors Julia Razook and Taranee Karimpour rounded out the doubles win with an 8-5 win at No. 3 doubles.
Haddad was the first one off of the court in singles as she defeated her No. 3 counterpart 6-1, 6-0 to give Franciscan a 4-0 lead in the match. Conrad secured the ninth-straight win for Franciscan with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 1 singles.
Hammel continues to play at top form as she defeated her opponent at No. 5 singles, 6-2, 6-0 and reigning AMCC Player of the Week, Binette, continued to dominate at No. 2 singles and defeated her opponent 6-0, 6-3.
Karimpour gave Franciscan an 8-0 lead in the match with a 6-1, 6-1 win at No. 6 singles and Razook finished off the sweep for the Lady Barons with an impressive and smart 6-1, 6-0 win at No. 4 singles.
The Lady Barons get back on the courts tomorrow as they host D'Youville in an 11:00 am AMCC contest.
