Barons Roll Pitt.-Johnstown at Home

| By:
STEUBENVILLE - The Franciscan rugby team continued its winning ways with a dominating performance over Pitt-Johnstown, defeating the visitors 82-0.

After a slight delay to start the game, the Barons punched it in one minute into the game with some nifty passing out wide on a few quick balls and then reverting back with a big overlap and an easy try for freshman Paul Hebert with a nice off load by captain Josh Leatherby. Another try a short few minutes later by the #9/#10 dynamite duo of Anthony Hobbs and Rafe Lewis mad it 10-0 with 2 failed conversions.

As the game went on, so too, did the scoring for the Barons as tries were scored by James Reichert, Jake Reinstein (2), and Michael Bohman. Lewis set up two of the tries as well as David Prezzia with dazzling 8 man pick up to Jake Reinstein sneaking up from the fullback position to gallop in both of his tries.

While the score was 34-0 at the half, it was a half that paid its toll on a few players as PJ Ernst and Paul Hebert exited the game with injuries. The second half was a mirror image of the first half as the Barons scored 48 points to put the tally at 82. They were able to preserve the shutout at the end when UPJ threatened to score.

Leatherby scored his first try of the season and set up another try to Patrick Tully on a great offload to spring Tully for about 30 meters.  Hobbs, Tully, Zach "Bucky" Barnes, Bohman and Lewis (2) pitched in on the scoring. Lewis completed the "try"fecta by dotting down three times with his last two scores showing off his quick footstep and juking ability.  Ben Jaminet continued the freshman scoring barrage this season by scoring his first try ever.  The whole team did well and the players filled in for Ernst's and Hebert's absence to send them on their way to a victory.

The 4-0 Barons next face Fairmont State on Saturday, October 5 in a friendly on Homecoming Weekend.
