How it Happened
- Freshman Estelle Leon, making her first start of the season, did not waste time as she scored less then 30 seconds in to give the Lady Barons the advantage. Ciana Vaughan added a bucket and Leon another as the Panthers would lead 8-6 with 6:21 left in the quarter. A sloppy six minutes would ensue with the Panthers going on a 7-0 run to end the quarter with a nine point edge.
- The Panthers would push the lead to to 13 with early buckets by Durand and Maddie Sitler to start the second quarter. Vaughan and Leon would add buckets again to cut the score to 19-10 with 7:34 left in the quarter. The Panthers would go on a run to stretch the lead to 20, with 2:26 left. Selena Coronis would hit a three, and Abby Baierl hit a layup to go into half down 15.
- Clare McGahan would join the score sheet as she hit a layup to start the quarter, but it was quickly responded by a Durand layup. Durand would be the story of the third quarter as she would outscore the Lady Barons 11-10 this quarter, scoring eleven of the Panthers 18 3rd quarter points. This would give the Panthers a 23 point lead heading into the final frame.
- The Lady Barons showed no signs of quit, as they would come out and win the 4th quarter 22-17. An early 7-0 run would cut the margin to 18 with 7:17 left to play. Clare McGahan and Selena Coronis would add a three each to keep attacking the Panthers, cutting the lead to as close as 15. The Panthers would outlast the Lady Barons as they win 67-49.
