Lady Barons to Host Mt. St. Joseph Lions on Wednesday

STEUBENVILLE, OH- The Lady Barons are coming into this game after a disappointing loss at Pitt.-Bradford last Saturday. Mount St. Joseph has had a busy schedule of late with their first win last Saturday at conference foe Anderson, and a loss at Wooster yesterday.

All-Time Series Against Mount St. Joseph
  • Franciscan has never beaten Mount St. Joseph in their history and are currently 0-2 all-time against Mt. St. Joseph, with meetings coming in each of the last two seasons.
  • Last Season, The Lady Barons fell on the road 53-67. Reagan Stead led the way for Franciscan with 18 points in 22 minutes off the bench. Abby Baierl  added 8 points and 10 rebounds as well in the loss.
  • In 2017, Franciscan lost 49-68 at home. Reagan Stead again led the way offensively with 14 points, while Cianna Vaughan added 9 points and 9 rebounds. Lainee Studer scored a game high 22 points for the Lions.
Scouting Franciscan
  • The Lady Barons offense is led by Senior Guard Abby Baierl, who is averaging 13.7 ppg. She has two 20+ point games this season.
  • Freshman Estelle Leon has been a huge impact player off the bench and is currently averaging a double double with 10.5 ppg and 10.3 rpg. She had a career high 19 points in her last game against Hilbert.
  • Franciscan has held opponents to a dismal 24.7% shooting from three this season, the best three point field goal percentage defense in the AMCC.

Scouting Mount St. Joseph
  • The Lions offense runs through Junior Guard Maddie Haberthy who is averaging 17.4 ppg. She has scored more then 17 points in every game this year besides a two point performance versus Bluffton.
  • Freshman Chloe Jansen has been heating up of late, by averaging 12.3 ppg over her last four games. Aliyah Huff has averaged 9.3 ppg in the Lions last four games as well.
  • Mount St. Joseph has the lowest field goal percentage in the Heartland, hence the second lowest in points and second lowest rebounds per game.
