How it Happened
- Both teams would come out of the gates very flat, but the Lions would build an 8-0 lead over the first seven minutes of action. Clare McGahan finally snapped the skid by making a three pointer with 2:13 left in the quarter. Kaitlyn Sonneberger added a late bucket to end the quarter down 10-5.
- The second quarter would start much better for the Lady Barons as Abby Baierl made her first three pointer, and Rose Judge converted a layup to tie it up at ten all. The Lady Barons would stretch leads up to four points twice, but the Lions continually responded. Maddie Haberthy hit a layup in the final minute for the Lions to send them to the half trailing the Lady Barons 22-24.
- Haberthy continued her strong play as she scored the Lions first five points of the second half, to give them the lead once more. With a Lions lead of 27-26, Mackenzie Marcum went on a tear hitting three straight threes, that would help them build a five point cushion. Baierl added a late layup to send the Barons to the 4th down by three.
- Baeirl opened the fourth up by hitting a jumper, but the Lions kept the three ball rolling as Chloe Jansen and Haberthy would give the Lions a four point lead. Kamryn McCoool would add a bucket to stretch the lead up to six points. The Lady Barons never quit as a 6-0 run would tie this one up at 48-48 with less then a minute remaining. Marcum would hit yet another three to give the Lions the edge, but Selena Coronis responded by hitting a two. The Lady Barons had two fouls to give and with less then thirty seconds they were forced to foul until Haberthy would get to the line. She would convert both free throws to give the Lions a three point lead with 13 seconds left. The Barons advanced it up to half court with a timeout, but were not able to get a clean look as Clare McGahan missed a late heave, as the Lions held on for the three point win.
