STEUBENVILLE – For the third-straight season, the Franciscan women's tennis team captured the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference championship and will head to the NCAA Tournament. After earning the bid back in October, the Lady Barons have learned they are headed back to Fredericksburg, MD to take on Mary Washington on Friday.

The Lady Barons wrapped up their regular season with a 16-5 overall record, including going 2-0 in the AMCC tournament. Franciscan once again had a perfect year in the AMCC with a 9-0 record against the conference opponents.
Franciscan is no stranger to the courts in Fredericksburg as the Lady Barons traveled there for the NCAA Tournament in 2018 but they will face the hosts in the opening round game this year. This will be the first meeting between the Eagles and the Lady Barons.
The Eagles come into the tournament after winning the Capital Athletic Conference for the 16
th-straight season. UMW improved to 20-4 on the season before the tournament.
In the day's other matches, TCNJ will take on Wilkes in the first match while Johns Hopkins and Grove City square in the second. The winner of the Grove City/Johns Hopkins match will take on the winner of the Franciscan/Mary Washington clash. Amherst received a first-round bye and will await the winner of the TCNJ/Wilkes showdown.
Franciscan and Mary Washington are set to get underway at 4:00 pm on Friday, May 10.
