Women' Basketball Travel to D'Youville on Saturday

STEUBENVILLE, OH- The Lady Barons lost a in a tough fought game to La Roche on Wednesday at home, while the Spartans have won three out of their last four as they head into our AMCC matchup on Saturday.

All-Time Series Against D'Youville
  • Franciscan is 6-14 all-time against D'Youville, with the Spartans on a two game winning streak.
  • In December last season D'Youville won 64-47. Angela Starre scored a game high 18 points to lead the Lady Barons and Kaitlyn Sonneberger added 12 points to lead the Lady Barons in defeat.
  • Last season at their place, D'Youville won 82-67. Angela Starre led the way for the Lady Barons again as she scored 21 points. Three Spartans scored in double figures as Jordan Smith led the way with 21 points, Sydney Alton scored 18 points off the bench and Danielle Hore added 15.
  • Franciscan's last win came in Buffalo in February of 2018. Gaby DeJesus and Reagan Stead each scored 15 points, and Cianna Vaughan had a double double of 14 points and 10 rebounds to lead Franciscan. 
Scouting Franciscan
  • Abby Baierl continues to be the Lady Barons #1 option, as she is averaging 15.2 ppg, 6th most in the AMCC. She has four games of scoring 20+ points.
  • Angela Starre has quickly proved that she has not missed a beat as she is averaging 14.0 ppg and 8.2 rpg, since returning from Austria.
  • Freshman Estelle Leon keeps on putting up a great case for Newcomer of the Year. She is still averaging 10.2 ppg and an AMCC high 11.4 rpg.
Scouting D'Youville
  • D'Youville's defense has been outstanding as they have allowed the second fewest points by any AMCC team at 60.0 ppg, but even better in their last four as they have held opponents to 51.2 ppg.
  • A big reason behind their recent success has been the emergence of Freshman Sara Pfeiffer, she has only played in the Spartans last three games, but is averaging 23.7 ppg, including 34 in their last victory against Pitt.-Bradford. She made a program record 10 threes in the game.
  • Sophomore Danielle Hore has been the Spartans most consistent scorer all season long as she averages 11.9 ppg. She also made history in their last game with a triple double of 10 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists. Hore is third in the conference at 4.8 apg.
