How it Happened

• The Lady Barons would be right with the Bobcats for the first eight minutes of this quarter. Angela Starre made a three pointer to tie it up at 5-5 with six minutes left in the quarter. Kaitlyn Sonneberger would get her strong night started as she made her first bucket, and Clare McGahan would make a three to be trailing 11-10 with 2:04 left in the quarter. A 9-0 Bobcats run would send them into the second quarter with a commanding 10 point edge.\
• Sidney McCully opened up the quarter for the Bobcats by making a three pointer, but then the Barons offense would go on an 8-0 run thanks to Kaitlyn Sonneberger. She would make her next three shots, and Rose Judge made a very nice strong layup to cut this one to a five point deficit. The Bobcats would close this quarter out strong as well, with made three pointers in the final minute by Maddy Coddington and Cat Gollihugh, to give them a nine point edge at the break.
• Sonneberger made an and one to start the second half, and Abby Baeirl made her first basket on a layup. The score would stand at 33-27 with 9:09 to play in the quarter, but unfortunately this is the closest the Lady Barons came to the lead the rest of the night as the Bobcats offense went off in the third. A 7-0 run over the next minute and a half stretched the lead up to 12 points, before Sonneberger added another bucket for the Lady Barons. The Bobcats would continue to get buckets, as their 14-4 run to end the final five minutes would give them a 20 point lead heading into the final frame.
• The Bobcats would remain hot as they stretched the lead to 24 points in the early goings of the fourth. The Lady Barons would use a timeout, as Coach Kirk really challenged the ladies to see who was going to fight till the end. They respond instantly by going on a 6-0 run, as Sonneberger made a shot and a free throw, while Selena Coronis made her first three pointer. Estelle Leon would really battle this quarter as she pulled down numerous boards, and made back to back jumpers down the stretch. The team would exchange free throws in the final minute as the Lady Barons never quit in the 69-51 loss.

• Sonneberger broke her season high total in points, that she set last game, by scoring 20 points tonight to lead the Lady Barons.
• Estelle Leon pulled down a team high 11 rebounds and is #1 in the AMCC in rebounding again.
• The Bobcats attempted 29 free throws, compared to the Lady Barons 9. 
• The Lady Barons lost the turnover battle 22-17, the 10th game that Franciscan has turned it over 20+ times. The Bobcats scored 26 points off the previously mentioned 22 turnovers.

"I am so proud of how we fought in the 2nd and 4th quarter. We battled, scarped and clawed all the way down the stretch. Sonney had a terrific game, and she really gave us the spark we needed at times."

"I want players that are going to fight for the 40 minutes, every rebound, every possession, every game. We wore black bands tonight on our jerseys for the unborn, those without a voice. Our winter athletes do not get to participate in the March for Life, so this is a way that they can support the Pro Life cause on the court."
