How it Happened
- The opening quarter was back and forth as Geneva would have a five point lead at 10-5. The Lady Barons would respond with a 11-0 run that included a Selena Coronis bucket followed up by a trio of treys as Angela Starre would hit her first bucket of the season and Abby Baierl made two of her four made three point field goals. Emily Melnek added a pair of buckets to tighten it back up, as she would score 10 points in the opening quarter for Geneva.
- Rebekah Neveraz, Cianna Vaughan and Estelle Leon made a bucket each to run the Lady Baron lead back up to five at 30-25 with three minutes left in the half. Paige Repine and Melnek would continue their strong offensive days to tighten the game back to a one point Franciscan advantage at the break.
- The Golden Tornadoes would open up the second half on a 5-0 run to take an early four point advantage. The Lady Barons would keep up their strong offensive day as they would battle back and tie it up at 44-44 with 3:37 remaining in the quarter. A 10-2 Lady Baron run would give them a lead that they would never relinquish as seniors Baierl and Kelsey Scott-Avery would each score five points over this stretch.Â
- The Golden Tornadoes would not quit as they would cut the lead to one at 62-61Â with 3:30Â left. The Lady Barons would do what winning teams do down the stretch, hit their free throws as they went 7-8 from the line in the final three minutes to grab their third victory of the season, and second against a PAC school.
