Lady Barons Take Winning Streak to the Road at Alfred State

STEUBENVILLE, OH - The Lady Barons are on quite the streak, as they have won four in a row for the second time ever in program history. They are still two games back of the last playoff spot, but they are taking the one possession at a time approach as they move forward to their next test at Alfred State.

All-Time Series Against Alfred State
  • The Lady Barons are 1-0 all-time against Alfred State with the lone matchup coming this year.
  • Franciscan won 73-58 in Steubenville on January 11th. The Lady Barons were led offensively by Abby Baierl, as she scored a game high 24 points to lead the way. Angela Starre added a double double with 19 points and 11 rebounds, and Freshman Estelle Leon added a double double as well with 12 points and 15 rebounds. The Lady Barons would win the battle on the glass 48-35 on the night, which was a huge reason behind their success. They also had a season low of 14 turnovers on the day.
Scouting Franciscan
  • Abby Baierl, the reigning AMCC player of the week, has been on a tear this four game winning streak. She is averaging 18.7 ppg in the last four wins.
  • Estelle Leon has also been playing her best as of late. She has three of her team high seven double doubles in the four game winning streak. She is also 6th in the AMCC with 2.0 steals per game.
  • The Lady Barons have outscored opponents by 13.2 ppg in the four game winning streak. They have scored 64.7 ppg and allowed 51.5 ppg during this run.
Scouting Alfred State
  • The Alfred State offense is led by Sophomore forward Jordyn Petit, who is T6th in the conference with 14.7 ppg and 2nd in rebounding at 10.8 rpg. She is second in the conference with nine double doubles this season thus far.
  • Kelsey Shaulis and Rayanna Anderson have also been key contributors offensively, as they average 11.6ppg and 11.4 ppg respectively.
  • The same five players have started all 20 games for the Pioneers, and that unit averages 51.8 points of the 61 ppg they score a night.
