How It Happened
NORTH MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. – Franciscan University knocked off St. Joseph (Conn.) by a score of 4-0 on Friday March 13.
The first several innings were a pitcher's duel, and in the circle for the Lady Barons was
Sarah Keating. Keating would strike out six Blue Jays in the first four innings, allowing just one hit.
Franciscan's offense finally broke through in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Kathleen Thompson would lead off the inning with a single into left field. Thompson stole second and third bases, putting herself in scoring position.
Anna Swierczewski laid down a picture perfect squeeze bunt, allowing Thompson to score the game's first run.
Having taken the momentum, the Lady Barons looked to extend the lead in the bottom of the fifth inning.
Chloe Cross led off the inning by hitting a double into left field.
Jenny Massey followed with a single, putting runners on the quarter. Massey stole second and
Dennise Carrazco walked to load the bases. Thompson hit a line shot and on an error allowed Cross to score.
Swierczewski led off the sixth inning by crushing a solo homerun over the left field fence, putting the Lady Barons ahead 3-0. Later in the inning after
Rachel Cooper hit a single and stole second,
Jenny Massey singled up the middle plating Cooper.
Meanwhile in the circle, Keating continued to dominate, shutting out the Blue Jays allowing just two hits while recording eight strikeouts.

How It Happened
The Lady Barons reset after their game one victory, and defeated Fitchburg St. by a score of 13-6 in the team's final game in North Myrtle Beach S.C.
Franciscan turned to Elizabeth Thompson to start in the circle in game two. Thompson would slow the Falcons early on holding them to just two runs in the first four inning.
The Lady Barons offense exploded in the first inning, quickly building a large lead.
Allyson Weiss led off the inning by hitting a single into center field. After she stole second and third,
Kathleen Thompson singled to second base scoring Weiss. Thompson would steal second base and when
Faith Pokryfke walked, Thompson stole third base. The Lady Barons would match their season high, stealing 11 bases.
Anna Swierczewski hit a single into center field scoring Thompson.
Rachel Cooper hit a sacrifice fly allowing Pokryfke to score putting Franciscan ahead 3-0. Later in the inning,
Dennise Carrazco smacked a single into center field, plating Swierczewski. Carrazco would later score on a passed ball, putting Franciscan up 5-0.
Franciscan would get back on scoreboard in the fifth inning. Swierczewski led off the inning with a single to center field. Cooper followed with a single of her own to put two runners on base.
Jenny Massey then came through with a pinch hit single, scoring Swierczwski and putting Franciscan ahead 6-2.
In the sixth inning
Kathleen Thompson hit a single becoming the second player in school becoming the second Lady Baron to reach 100 career hits. The Lady Barons would eventually plate another run in the inning when Swirczewski hit a sacrifice fly scoring Weiss.
The Falcons would load the bases in sixth inning, forcing starter Elizabeth Thompson from the game.
Sarah Keating would come on in relief, getting out of the jam and holding Fitchburg St. to just two runs.
Franciscan's offense would put the game out of reach in the top of the seventh inning. The Lady Barons would score six runs on six hits, highlighted by a two RBI single by Swierczewski, capping off her four RBI game. Keating would allow one run in the final inning, closing out the 13-6 victory.
