Short Story: Four Barons place in the top 40 to help the team place 7th out of 33 teams at Oberlin.Â
Race Highlights
Franciscan Men's Cross Country had a strong showing at Oberlin on a cool wet Saturday morning. The Barons were led by
Liam Galligan, who placed 4th with a time of 25:26.7 in the 8K race.
Miguel Daez was next to finish with his best time of the year. He ran a 26:20.8 to place 30th overall out of over 300 runners. Not far behind Daez was
Mark Borek. He placed 37th with a time of 26:35.7. Six seconds behind him was
George Kaftan who had a strong showing in his first race in nearly a month. Rounding out the top five finishers for Franciscan was
Danny Donovan in 74th place.Â
Franciscan was the top finisher amongst the seven PAC schools that competed in this race. Saint Vincent placed 18th, Grove City 23rd, Washington & Jefferson 26th, Waynesburg 29th, Geneva 32nd, and Chatham 35th. Alex Phillip of John Carroll won the race individually with a time of 24:59.5. John Carroll the number one ranked team in the Great Lakes region came home with the team title. Case Western and Mount Union, who are both ranked above Franciscan in the Great Lakes region, narrowly finished ahead of the Barons in 5th and 5th. Â

Franciscan will have a week off from competition, as they prepare for the PAC Championship on October 30th. The Championship will be in Pittsburgh, as Chatham is the host institution this season. Franciscan got to see the championship course earlier this season in the PAC Preview, and the Barons were able to finish in 1st out of five teams competing that day.Â
