How It Happened
Franciscan made their longest road trip of the season up to Alfred State for a tri meet on Sunday afternoon. Franciscan was able to defeat Wells, while narrowly losing to the host Alfred State Pioneers.
Franciscan earned their first win of the day in the 1000 yard freestyle. Kathryn McKenzie would swim the long event in 13:04.90, a season best time. Hana Regenauer came in second in that event while she was forty seconds behind McKenzie. Franciscan's second win came in the 200 yard freestyle when fresh Bridget Bartosik was the first to finish. Her teammmate Celia Van Den Wymelenberg came in second place as she was less than a second behind Bartosik. The third Franciscan win came in event #11 the 200 yard butterfly. Colleen Farabaugh improved on her season best time by swimming this event in a time of 2:31.98.
Franciscan had a diver compete for the first time in a couple of years, as freshman Charley Truitt won the women's one meter dive with a total score of 157.90 points. Colleen Farabaugh completed the sweep of the butterfly events with a win in the shorter, 100 yard event as well. She improved her season best time with a time of 1:05.19. The Lady Barons ended the meet by winning the final event, the 200 yard freestyle relay. Bridget Bartosik, Celia Van Den Wymelenberg, Emily Reuwer, and Anne Konstanty teamed up to win the relay with a time of 1:52.22.

Franciscan will hit the road again next weekend as the head south this time. They will be facing Alderson Broaddus and West Virginia Wesleyan in Philippi, W, Va. This will be a tough test for the Lady Barons, as they face a pair Division II schools. This will be their first matchup against West Virginia Wesleyan in school history. The Lady Barons are familiar with Alderson Broaddus, as they defeated them earlier this season in their home-opener.
