Farabaugh Sets Program Record

How It Happened
The Franciscan Women's Swimming & Diving team fell in their matchup with defending Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) Swimming & Diving Champions Grove City by a score of 139-91.

Colleen Farabaugh picked up the Barons lone event win, finishing first in the 1000 Yard Freestyle in a time of 11:58.76. That mark is the fifth fastest in the PAC so far this season. Farabaugh also took part in the 400 Yard IM, finishing second in a time of 5:11.37. Farabaugh's time is the fastest in school history earning her ninth program record.

While the Barons were not able to capture the top spot in any other events, a Baron swimmer took second in 13 events including both of Franciscan's 200 Yard Medley Relay team and 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team earning second place finishes. Junior Evelyn Nick had a busy and productive night for the Barons. After Nick took part in both of Franciscan top finishing relay teams, she would finish second in the 200 Yard Freestyle recording a time of 2:22.32. Nick would close her evening by once again finishing second this time in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Sarah Kelty also took part in both relay teams and earned a pair of individual second place in the 100 Yard Backstroke and 100 Yard Butterfly. The third member of Franciscan's top relay teams Anne Konstanty took home second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, finishing in a time of 1:19.27. The final member of the relay teams Hana Regenauer also took second in the 200 Yard Backstroke. 

Grace Shoemaker took second for the Barons in the 50 Yard Freestyle posting a season best time of 30.33. Melia Domingo captured four team points with her second place finishes in the 200 Yard Breaststroke. Kathryn McKenzie picked up a pair of second place finishes in both 200 Yard Butterfly and the 500 Yard Freestyle. 


Inside The Numbers

  • Colleen Farabaugh set a school record, recording the fastest time in school history in the 400 Yard IM with a time of 5:11.37. Farabaugh also won the 1000 Yard Freestyle
  • Eight different Barons recorded second place finishes in 13 of the 16 events. 
  • Sarah Kelty took second in the 100 Yard Backstroke and 100 Yard Butterfly
  • Evelyn Nick took second in the 100 and 200 Yard Freestyles
  • Kathryn McKenzie also recorded a pair of second place finishes in the 200 Yard Butterfly and 500 Yard Freestyle

Franciscan Swimming & Diving will return home to face Bethany and Chatham in a tri-meet on Saturday February 20 at 1:00 p.m. The event will be live streamed and tune in early as the Barons will celebrate Seniors Andrea Beganskas and Catherine Bracy before the meet.
