Franciscan Downs Bethany, Edged Out By Chatham on Senior Day

How It Happened
The Franciscan Women's Swimming & Diving team celebrated senior day by defeating Bethany 186-17. The Barons would get edged out by Chatham 124-120 in a really competitive meet. 

Before the meet Franciscan celebrated graduating swimmers Andrea Beganskas, Catherine Bracy, and Colleen Farabaugh and thanked for them for their contributions to the program. Farabaugh as she has many times during her career had a big day for the Barons. She started out by winning the 1000 Yard Freestyle in a time of 12:03.18. She then won the 100 Yard Butterfly recording a time of 1:05.00. Finally she took the top spot in the 200 Yard IM, finishing in a time of 2:29.81

Kathryn McKenzie finished first for the Baron in the 200 Yard Butterfly in a time of 2:34.00. McKenzie would also take second in the 100 Yard Freestyle. Anne Konstanty took the top spot in the 100 Yard Breaststroke finishing with a time of 1:20.86. Konstanty would also win the 200 Yard Breaststroke finishing in a time of 3:02.60. Konstanty also finished second in the 50 Yard Freestyle. 

The Barons had several swimmers pick up valuable team points. Melia Domingo took second in the 100 Yard Breaststroke, and fourth in the 200 Yard Backstroke. Hana Regenauer added to the team total finishing second in the 200 Yard Backstroke. Leah Schaefer finished second in the 200 Yard Breaststroke and third in the 100 Yard Backstroke. Sarah Kelty picked up three third place finishes in the 200 Yard Butterfly, 100 Yard Butterfly and 200 Yard IM. Grace Shoemaker also recorded a pair of third place finishes in the 100 Yard Freestyle and 50 Yard Freestyle. Other Barons who recorded team points were Brianna Sauslen, Rebecca Paston, and Kaley Somers

Up Next

The Lady Barons will get back after it in practice next week, as they prepare for the PAC Championships. The two day championship will be hosted at Grove City College with Day #1 on Monday March 1st and Day #2 on Thursday March 4th. This will be the Lady Barons first attempt at a PAC Championship, as the host Grove City looks to defend their title from 2020.
