Men's Tennis Falls in PAC Championship

Washington, Pa. - The Franciscan University Men's Tennis team ad their season come to an end on Saturday afternoon. The Barons fell to the Wolverines of Grove City in the PAC Men's Tennis Championship, by a score of 5-0.

Doubles
The Franciscan doubles team would be on the wrong side of all three matches, but they battled hard. First off the floor was Gary Pierre and Billy Presume, as thye fell 8-1 in #1 doubles. Aidan Howard and Joseph Suess faired slightly better in #3 doubles, but they lost 8-2. Luke Conrad and Aidan Palladino paired up for the second time this season in #2 doubles. They battled in a very close match, as they fell 8-5.

Singles
First off the court was Aidan Howard in #4 singles, as he fell 6-2, 6-0. Fellow Senior Luke Conrad was the next to fall at #2 singles, 6-1 6-1. That would do it, as the Wolverines would win the 5th point of the day. At #5 and #6 singles Christian Cappello and Aidan Palladino were battling strong as they were at 4-4 in their first sets.

Who's Next? 
With the loss, this is the conclusion of the men's tennis season. They competed hard in their first season of play in the PAC conference. They do lose a handful of seniors - Christian Cappello, Luke Conrad, Aidan Howard, Joseph Suess and Paul Voltz. It will be interesting to see how Head Coach Scott Greve replaces many of these talented players with new faces and the young depth already here on campus. The Barons will return to action in the fall, which serves as their nonconference season.
