How It HappenedÂ
    The Lady Barons battled the Bearcats Monday night at Finnegan Fieldhouse. Felicia MacGillivray scored a career high 22 points in a 70-54 loss, but the game was much closer then the final score states.
Both offenses took sometime to warmup, as the Lady Barons did not score for the first four and a half minutes. Felicia MacGillivray made a jumper to set the score at 5-2 to get Franciscan started. MacGillivray would add five more points throughout the quarter to help keep the Lady Barons in this one, as Franciscan trailed 14-12 through one quarter. After an Ilena Gonzales free throw, MacGillivray would add her first three pointer to give Franciscan their first lead of the night at 16-14. Jazzlyn Melnyk would heat up this quarter as well, as she helped regain the lead ar 22-21. Melnyk would have nine second quarter points to end the half with 11 points. The Bearcats added a late bucket with two seconds to play to take a 33-31 lead into the half.
In the second half, the Lady Barons battled back to regain the lead at 37-36 when Lauren Arena connected on a jumper. An 8-0 Bearcats run would give the Bearcats a seven point lead, but Franciscan kept battling. MacGillivray snapped the run by making her second three pointer of the night. Ilena Gonzales added a triple as well down the stretch, but the Bearcats would manage to take an eight point lead into the fourth. Â
Madison Doan made the first bucket of the fourth, as she cut the lead to six points and got the home crowd excited. Lauren Arena played a very tough fourth with six points in the quarter on her way to a 10 point night. The Lady Barons were just not able to get enough stops and quality looks late, as the Bearcats lead would grow. The Bearcats would hold onto to win 70-54
Inside the NumbersÂ
- MacGillivray scored a career high 22 points on the night.
- Jazzlyn Melnyk had a double double with 11 points and 10 rebounds. She had a team high six assists as well.
- Lauren Arena had 10 points with seven coming in the second half.Â
- Rebounds were pretty even with St. Vincent edging out Franciscan 48-44.
- Madison Doan had two blocks, she has 21 on the season, most all-time by a freshman and third most in a season in program history. Two more to pass Bernadette Roach's 22 in 2016-17.

The Lady Barons will head to Washington, Pa. on Wednesday night to take on the Presidents at 6 p.m. The Lady Barons are still in search of their first win all-time against them, as they fell to them earlier this season. Felicia MacGillivray led Franciscan with 13 points, and Jazzlyn Melnyk had a near double double with 9 points and 11 rebounds. The Presidents sit a top the PAC standings still, as they will be a tough test for the Lady Barons.Â

Franciscan University Athletics is partnering with Steubenville Conferences to offer summer sports camps in conjunction with the Steubenville Main Campus 1 (June 9-12th, 2022) and 3 (June 23-26th, 2022).
