Franciscan Swim & Dive Picks up a Pair of Wins at Baldwin Wallace

How It Happened
The Franciscan Women's Swimming & Diving team traveled to Baldwin Wallace for the Baldwin Wallace Fall Duals on Friday and Saturday. Franciscan was joined by Bluffton, Hiram, and, the host, Baldwin Wallace for three dual meets. The Barons picked up a pair of wins over Hiram and Bluffton, while falling to host Baldwin Wallace to se their record at 2-2 on the season thus far. 

The Barons started out the weekend with a second place finish in the 200 yard medley relay. Bridget Bartosik finished it off for the lead relay team with a time of 26.57 on her 50 yard freestyle. Kate Kinst swam the 1000 yard freestyle for the first time in her collegiate career, as she placed second with a solid time of 11:54.20. Kristen Farabaugh placed third in the 200 yard IM, while Sarah Kelty placed fifth. Bridget Bartosik swam under a minute in the 100 yard freestyle to place second. Olivia Mete was less than a half of a second from winning the 200 yard butterfly with another second place finish. Lucia Garvey made her debut in the 100 yard backstroke, and she placed second with a time of 1:05.44. Farabaugh kept up the second place trend in the 100 yard breaststroke, as she continues to show her versatility. 

The top Franciscan relays in the 400 yard freestyle and medley relays both place third. Kate Kinst then placed third in the longer, 400 yard IM, with a time of 5:27.02. Olivia Mete battled in the 100 yard butterfly, as she narrowly place third. Bartosik showed off her speed once again in the 50 freestyle with a time of 27.45 to place third. Garvey and Kinst placed third and fourth in the 200 yard backstroke. In the final event, the 200 yard freestyle relay, the Barons placed second with a time of 1:50.46. 

Up Next
The Barons return home to challenge PAC reigning champions, Grove City, on Saturday October 29th at 1:00 pm. It will be senior day for the Barons, as Olivia Mete will be honored before the meet at Big Red Natatorium. This will be another tough test for the Barons, as they continue to push through their fall season.
