Track & Field Compete at Kent State

The Franciscan Men's and Women's Track & Field teams traveled to Kent State this weekend to compete in the Doug Raymond Invitational. Schools from all levels of NCAA athletics were represented in this non-scored event. This is Franciscan's first of two trips to Kent State this month, as the indoor season will come to an end later this month. Liam Galligan accepted his invite to the All-Ohio Championships at Otterbein, and he didn't disappoint, as he won the mile with a new meet record. 

Highlights for the Lady Barons
- On Friday night, Alice McAnespie posted a time of 31.08 in the 200 meter dash.
- Alison Bryant improved her time in the mile, as she posted a time of 5:25.41 to placed 15th in 48 runner field. Rachel Hurley placed 36th while Sydney Lorentz placed 47th.
- Ashlin LaFond ran a season best time of 1:05.05 in the 400 meter dash.
- Jessica Campbell improved her season best time in the 800 meter dash with a time of 2:29.59. 
- Alison Bryant shattered her personal best in the 3000 by nearly fifteen seconds, as she posted a 10:38.19. She beat 14 Division I runners, while improving her chances of making it to the NCAA National Championship. Beatrice Wear placed 29th in this race.

Highlights for the Barons
- Conal Delaney and Francis Langley each ran on Friday night in the 5000 meter run. Delaney posted a season best time of 16:54.69, and Langley posted a time of 20:46.96.
- At the All-Ohio Championships, Liam Galligan posted a new meet record while winning the one mile run. His time of 4:15.92 was one second faster then the second place finisher, as the top three runners were part of a tight finish. 
- Back at Kent State on Saturday, Austen Duggan improved his mile time by six seconds, as he posted a 4:32.16 to place 20th in the 38 runner field. Also in the same race, David Di Nardo placed 31st, Nathaniel Tokarsky 33rd, Mike Sobus 36th, and Francis Langley 38th.
- Easton Syvertson posted a time of 53.22 in the 400 meter dash.
- David Cappello ran in the 800 for the first time this season, and he set a new personal record with a sub two minute time of 1:59.91. Joseph Rohde also ran in the 800 for the first time, as he posted a time of 2:07.22 to place 43rd. Nathaniel Tokarsky and Matthew York also posted times in this event.
- Mark Borek, Miguel Daez, David Di Nardo, and Mike Sobus ran in the 3000 meter run. Borek led the way with an 8:53.19 to place 16th.
- The Barons ended the day by running in the 1600 meter relay. The team registered a time of 3:37.55 to place 14th.

Franciscan has one last regular season meet next Saturday at Kent State. This will be their last meet before the PAC Indoor Track & Field Championships which will be on February 24th.
