Short Story: Galligan and Bryant improve their times in hopes of making NCAA National Championship

Race Highlights for the Women
  • Freshman Brigid Mack improved upon her performance on Thursday, as her best throw on Friday went 37.41 meters. She ranks 44th best in the nation currently with a season best throw of 41.38m.
  • Ashlin LaFond and Jessica Campbell both ran the 800 meter. The senior, LaFond would out-run the freshman, as she placed 13th with a time of 2:23.62. Campbell was not far behind in 15th with a time of 2:26.86.
  • Campbell also ran in the 1500 meter, as she placed 19th. Her time of 5:08.19 was a new personal best. 
  • Senior Alison Bryant looked to improve her time in the 3000 meter steeplechase, and she did with a time of 11:16.95 for her best of the season. That time puts her 36th in the nation, as she will need to shave some more seconds in hopes to qualify for the National Championship. 
Race Highlights for the Men
  • Freshman Joseph Rohde was the lone Baron to run in two events. First in the 100 meter, he placed 27th with a time of 11.62 seconds. Then in the 400 meter, he placed 4th with a time of 51.01.  
  • Austen Duggan was the lone Baron to run in the 800m. He ran a strong race, as he placed 19 with a time of 1:57.47. 
  • Liam Galligan broke the stadium record in the 1500m, as he won with a time of 3:49.39. That was new personal best, as he now ranks 22nd in the nation. Teammate Mark Borek ran in just under four minutes, 3:59.99, to place 14th.

Franciscan will have a handful of athletes compete at Mount Union next Thursday in the last event of the regular season. It will be the last chance to improve your performance to have a chance of qualifying for the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field National Championships later this month.
