Box Score Franciscan 8, Baldwin Wallace 1
BEREA, OHIO -Â Franciscan Women's Tennis hit the road for the first time this season, as they took on Baldwin Wallace on Saturday afternoon. They continued their hot streak in a decisive 7-1 in.
Doubles
 Â
Maria Herrera and
Olivia Colby had their first real test this season as they dropped their #1 Doubles match 8-4. The loss is their first loss this season. The Barons were without
Haley Davinsizer, so freshmen
Kina Ehlers and
Claire Cardie played up as the #2 Doubles pair. They and #3 Doubles pair
Estelle Leon and
Veronica Saunders, seeing her first action, each won to put the Barons up 2-1.
Singles
All six Baron Singles players won their matches.
Margaret Vernau played up in the #4 spot instead of the usual #6 spot. Freshmen
Delaney Dawson saw her first round of action in the #5Â Singles spot and she impressed with a two set win only dropping one game all match. Baldwin Wallace forfeited the #6 Singles match giving
Estelle Leon a free win for the stat book. The six Singles match wins brought the match total to 8-1 giving the Barons another win before conference play.
Next Up
Franciscan will continue a busy stretch of games, as they travel to Otterbein on Monday afternoon. Surprisingly this is the first time the Barons have played the Cardinals in Women's Tennis. On paper it appears to be their toughest test of the season thus far, as the Cardinals won the OAC Championship last season and made it into the second round of the NCAA Championships. They graduated one player off last year's team, and return one player who made a run in the Individual NCAA Championship as well.Â
