Box Score #3 Franciscan 5, #6 Saint Vincent 1
Doubles
The Barons prepared for a run in the postseason by switching their doubles lineup. Coach moved
Olivia Colby down to the #2 doubles to pair with
Veronica Saunders, and
Claire Cardie moved up to play #1's with
Maria Herrera. The #3 doubles were
Margaret Vernau and
Delaney Dawson. The Barons historically have the strongest doubles play in the conference, and last night stayed true to that with going 2-1 in doubles play.
Singles
In the postseason, once a team wins their 5th point the match is called and all remaining singles players are scored as unfinished. The Barons only needed three wins in singles to close out the match.
Maria Herrera and
Olivia Colby made quick work of their #1 and #2 singles opponents. With the match score at 4-1, the Barons only needed one of the remaining four singles players to come through with a win.
Delaney Dawson heard the call and finished off the Bearcats defeating her opponent in the #6 pairing.
Next UpÂ
Franciscan will now head to Grove City on Thursday afternoon for a PAC Semifinal match. This will be their second trip to Grove City this season, and they are looking to make it a better trip than the first. On October 6th, the Barons dropped to the Wolverines by a score of 4-5. They won just one doubles match with the others being extremely close, and then won #1, #2, and #3 singles. Many matches could be flipped, as the Barons will be very pumped up to take on the Wolverines again.
