How It Happened
Franciscan made the trip up north to Thiel on Saturday afternoon, and they would keep up their recent success against the Tomcats with a 76-43 dominant win.
The Barons would take the lead early with a 6-0 run to start the game, including four points from Mikayla Doan. The Barons would not look back, as they would hold the lead for forty straight minutes. Mikayla Doan would be a major contributor with 10 first quarter points. In the second quarter, the Tomcats were able to pull within four points, but a three pointer from Conner would give the Barons a seven-point leas heading into halftime.
Ilena Gonzales and Caroline Reedy would help the Barons expand the lead in the third quarter. Reedy made two of her three, three point baskets in the third quarter, and Ilena Gonzales scored seven of her 11 points in this quarter. The Barons would add on 17 more points in the fourth to give them forty points in the second half. The win gives the Barons a 3-2 record on the year and 1-1 mark in PAC play.

Franciscan will have their home opener this Tuesday, as they host Grove City at 5:30 p.m. The Barons are looking to snap a nine-game losing skid to the Wolverines. This will be a matchup of a pair of first-year Head Coaches. Grove city finished third in the PAC last season, but are off to a slow start in the early going of the 2023 season.
