The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced their Women's Basketball Weekly Awards on Monday, and Franciscan freshman
Mikayla Doan (San Diego, Calif. / St. Joseph Academy) earned Newcomer of the Week honors for the second week in a row.
Doan averaged 13.5 points and 12 rebounds per game this week while helping the Barons go 1-1 in PAC play. Against Bethany, the freshman forward was a perfect five-for-five from the field with 11 points and seven rebounds. In a 76-43 victory over Thiel, Doan recorded her first collegiate double-double with 16 points and 17 boards. She currently leads the Barons in scoring (15.2 ppg), rebounding (9.2 rpg), and field goal percentage (67.3%).
This is the second PAC Weekly honor of her career. Doan and the Barons have just one game this week before Thanksgiving. They host Grove City at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Both teams are 1-1 in PAC play so far this season, as the winner of this matchup will jump into the top half of the conference standings.
