How It Happened 

The Franciscan Women's Basketball team lost to the Chatham Cougars on Saturday afternoon by a score of 76-38.

In the beginning of the first half, Jazzlyn Melnyk sunk a 3-pointer early on and Kylie Panizza found the rim in the paint halfway through the first quarter of action to give the Barons a 3-point lead over the Cougars. Despite their efforts, by the end of the first quarter the Cougars had built themselves a 10-point lead.

In the second quarter, the Cougars continued to pile onto their lead until Felicia Macgillivray hit a jump shot to spark some life into the Barons. After two good free throws from Sophie LaRose and a jump shot from Emma Clow, the Barons started to trim away at the Cougars lead. However, this wouldn't be enough and by the end of the 2nd quarter the Cougars would have an 18-point lead.

After having some time to reset and refocus their efforts, the Barons came out of the half ready to finish their season. Within the first minute of action, Jazzlyn Melnyk hit a jumper to help put a dent in their deficit versus the Cougars. Scoring points and grabbing rebounds, Melnyk was doing all she could for her team but despite her endeavors the Cougars pulled away even further from the Barons and eventually handed them the loss.

Inside the Numbers 
-Melnyk led the Barons with 12 points and 14 rebounds to record the double-double.
- 16 different Barons saw floor time in this game.
