How It Happened
The Barons made the trip to Washington & Jefferson on Saturday afternoon to take on the, #1 team in the PAC, Presidents. The Presidents would score 27 first quarter points to put the Barons in a hole that they could not dig out of today.

After seven straight President points, the Barons would get on the board when Bri DeChristopher made a layup in her first collegiate start. Melnyk and Doan would score the other seven points for Franciscan, but nine turnovers which the Presidents scored several points off of would give the hosts a 27-9 lead after 10 minutes.

Felicia MacGillivray and Emma Clow would make three pointers to help Franciscan open up the second quarter on a 6-0 run. The Presidents would respond with an 8-0 run of their own. Melnyk would add a three and another bucket down the stretch to lead the Barons with eight points in the first half.

The Barons best offensive quarter of the day would be the third quarter, as they scored 20 points to equal their first half production. Giuliana Biasutto was the spark they needed, as she scored eight points in this quarter. In the fourth, Ashley Benson and Isabel Atendido would join the score column, as the Presidents would win 77-47

Up Next
Franciscan returns to action at Bethany on Wednesday, as they look to snap a run of five straight losses to their local rival, Bison. In January, the Bison came to Steubenville and defeated the Barons by a score of 63-42. Emma Clow led the Barons with 10 points, but this matchup should be different, as Madison Doan is back from injury to give the Barons a boost.
