Doubles
The Barons got off to a fast start in this match with some good doubles play.
Maria Herrera and
Olivia Colby were the first to finish with an 8-1 win at #1 doubles. That would be their 14th win of the season while paired together. The freshman duo of
Kina Ehlers and
Claire Cardie continued their success with an 8-6 win at #2 doubles.
Haley Davinsizer and
Veronica Saunders dropped a back-and-forth battle at #3 doubles by a score of 8-5.
Singles
Maria Herrera continued her historic singles season with another win at #1 singles. That is her 19th win of the season, as she holds a perfect 16-0 record in dual matches in the 2022-23 season. Unfortunately that would the Barons last point of the day, but the team showed a lot of heart and talent with four of the other five matches going the distance, to a third-set tiebreaker.
Margaret Vernau lost her first set before winning the second an just falling short in the tiebreak. Colby had the same fortunes at #3 singles. Ehlers won the first set before dropping the last two. Cardie lost the first set in #4 singles, but made a massive comeback in the second set, as she was down 5-2. She then came back to win the second set and pushed her opponent till the end when she dropped 10-7 in the tiebreak.
Next Up
Franciscan will conclude their spring break trip in Florida with their first ever matchup against Illinois Wesleyan. The Titans have had a down year thus far, as they are in search of their first win of the season.
