Franciscan 7, Westminster 2
Steubenville, Ohio -Â
The Barons hosted the Westminster Titans at home for their spring opener. Overcoming the wind and just above legal temperatures, the Barons walk away with a 7-2 win.
Doubles
  #1 doubles-
Travis Mistry and
Aidan Palladino vs Oberlin and Albert. Mistry and Palladino had a slow start. The pair had a few moments of disagreement on strategy and what their Titan opponents were trying to do, but once they were on the same page they made quick work and grabbed the first point of the evening. The freshmen twins
Benjamin Sabol and
Samuel Sabol faced Mack and Weiss in the #2 spot. Their game was extremely close, but the twins pulled away in the end.
James Scanlon and Hecton Callahan faced off against Sofran and Oliver at the #3 pairings. Scanlon was a big presence in front of the net and made a lot of great plays to protect his young teammate. They rounded out doubles play finishing the Baron sweep of doubles.
Singles
  Â
Travis Mistry at the #1,
Samuel Sabol at #2,
Benjamin Sabol #3 all handled their opponents with ease despite the gusting winds.
Callahan Hecton lost his first set but focused in to force the 3rd superset tiebreaker with a straight second set. In the tiebreak he defeated his opponent 10-4. The last to finish for the Barons was
Aidan Palladino playing in the #2 spot. Palladino dropped the first set 6-7, then forced the third tiebreak in a close 6-4 battle second set. All day each player struggled from the far side of the court which was most likely due to wind direction. Palladino jumped out to an early 6-2 lead in the tiebreak, but lost significant momentum when they flipped sides. He lost the tiebreak 10-8 to give the Barons their second of two losses on the day.

Gary Pierre at #1 doubles and won in straight sets in #1 singles.Â
