How It Happened
    The Barons traveled north to play the new PAC opponent the Allegheny Gators. In game 1 the Barons were off to a tough start. The Gator pitcher through 3 straight strikeouts then the home team put up 3 runs in the bottom of the inning. The second inning was a mirror match to the first inning and heading into the third the Barons were losing 7-0. In the top of the third the Barons came alive. Ilena Gonzales led off with a single straight up the middle past the pitcher. Stephenson and Maxwell followed her up each with a single. Gonzales scored off Maxwell's bat and put the first Baron points on the board. With runners on 1st and 2nd, the big bat Kimberly McDaniels stepped up to the plate. She saw a pitch she liked and hammered it out of left field for the first Baron home run of the season. Going into the bottom of the inning the score was 4-7 Allegheny. 
    However, the Gators answered in the bottom of the third and added one more run in the 4th to take a 12-4 lead. Franciscan was held to 0 runs in the top of the 5th to close out play and move into the break before game 2.

At the Plate
-McDaniels' 3 run shot is her first HR for the year
-Gonzales was 1 for 2 earning her first hit of her career
-Stephenson was an incredible 2 for 2 with a run
-Maxwell was 1 for 3 with a run and the other RBI for the game

In the Circle
-Starter Ariana Arnone pitched 4 innings allowed 13 hits, 6 earned, and tallied 2 strikeouts

How It Happened
    In game 2 the Barons took a temporary lead to start the game. McDaniels singled in the lead off hit and Arnone hit a double to bring McDaniels all the way home. The Barons hung on for a couple innings before the Gators took a 7-1 lead. Then McDaniels stepped up to the plate. I can only guess she was enraged from her 1st inning strikeout game 1, because since that at bat she hit a 3-run HR, a singled to left that led to a run, and again another HR this one a solo. Her deep shot brought the Barons to within 5. In the bottom of the 4th, the Gators racked up 8 runs to take a 15-2 lead. After a scoreless 5th inning the game was called.

-McDaniels was 2 for 2 with 2 runs and 1 RBI
-Arnone was 1 for 2 with an RBI
-Viktoria McQueeney was 1 for 2

-Starter Kimberly McDaniels pitched 4 innings allowed 18 hits, 10 ER, and tallied 2 strikeouts

Up Next
Franciscan continues a busy week on the road, as they take their first of two trips to Penn State Beaver on Wednesday. The Barons are looking for their first win all-time against them, as they have dropped their previous tem matchups that span back to 2008. The Lions should be a tough test, as they are 13-10 thus far this season with a team batting average of .325.
