The Presidents' Athletic Conference (PAC) announced their Women's Basketball Weekly Awards on Monday, and Franciscan freshman
Maria McCallen (Springfield, Pa. / Cardinal O'Hara) earned Newcomer of the Week honors.
McCallen shot an efficient 62 percent from the floor (13-for-21) while averaging 17 points and 6.5 rebounds per game last week for the Barons. The freshman put up 14 points against Geneva along with eight rebounds. She closed out the week scoring a season-best of 20 points at Chatham with five rebounds, two steals, and two blocks.
This is the first PAC Weekly honor of her career. This is the third time that a Baron has earned this honor in the 2023-24 season, as
Mikayla Doan earned this recognition in back-to-back weeks in November. Franciscan returns to action at home on Wednesday, as they host Washington & Jefferson at 5:30 p.m.
