How It Happened
Franciscan Women's Swimming & Diving made the trip south to Divsion II West Virginia Wesleyan on Friday afternoon. Franciscan would come away with a split. They picked up their first conference win of the season over Bethany, and Fell to the Bobcats in a close one.
In the opening event, 200 yard medley relay, Cecilia White, Faith Vande Hey, Ramona DiNardo, & Carolyn Mohr combined to swim a time of 2:17.00 to place second. Sophia Gellner and Emma Grojean placed within four seconds of each other in the 1000 yard freestyle to place second and third. Bridget Bartosik posted a time of 2:15.00 to place second in the 200 yard freestyle, and the Barons were beating both teams through three events.
In the 50 yard freestyle, Sydney McGee placed third with a time of 29.20 seconds. Then, Kate Kinst started her strong day with a second place finish in the 400 yard IM. Bartosik swam another strong event with a time just over a minute in the 100 yard freestyle. Kinst would then deliver the first win of the day for the Barons. Her time of 5:57.04 beat the field by nearly a minute in the 500 yard freestyle. The Barons followed that up with a win in the 200 yard freestyle relay. Samantha Walton, Bridget Bartosik, Sydney McGee, and Kate Kinst came within five seconds of the program record with a time of 1:51.68.

Franciscan Women's Swimming & Diving return to action in two weeks, as they make the trip to Juniata for the second season in a row. They will take on Marywood and Juniata in a tri-meet. Franciscan is 1-1 all-time against Juniata, including a 147-102 win last season. This will be the first time that they swim against Marywood.
