How It Happened
Franciscan got back into game play after a two-week break from action. They hosted Chatham on New Year's Eve at noon in Finnegan Fieldhouse. The Cougars pulled away after a close first quarter in Steubenville.
In the opening quarter, both teams shot 7-18 from the floor, but the Cougars led 17-14. Maria McCallen led the Barons with 10 points in the opening 10 minutes. The second quarter is when the Cougars pulled away. They got hot, and they held the Barons to just four points. The score was 45-18 at the half. The Barons did not quit, as they won the fourth quarter by a score of 21-17. McCallen scored 15 of her 25 points in the second half.

Franciscan returns to action at home on Thursday, as Wittenberg comes to town. The Tigers have received votes in the National Top 25 this season, as they are 8-3 so far this season with a 1-0 mark in conference play. They last played on Monday against Cal Lutheran in Las Vegas where they lost 98-93 in overtime. Last season, the Tigers took down the Barons by a score of 85-36.
