Franciscan 1, Baldwin Wallace 8
Doubles
   At #1 doubles,
Travis Mistry and
Aaron Heinlein played together for the first time in a collegiate match. The duo battled but would fall by a score of 8-3.
Callahan Hecton and
Christopher Yvars were next to finish at #2 doubles, as they fell 8-1. #3 doubles was a classic back and forth battle that would require a tiebreaker to settle it. Francisan was represented by
David Bourdelais and
Aidan Palladino. With it tied at 7-7, the Yellow Jackets would storm ahead to win the tiebreaker 7-1 and earn the eighth point.
Singles
David Bourdelais would get the Barons on the board in #6 singles. We won 7-5, 6-4 to give the Barons a point.
Travis Mistry had his comeback fall short due to injury. After dropping the first set, he won the second set and was up 3-0 in the third before an injury forced a retirement.
Aidan Palladino would also force it into three sets at #3 singles after dropping the first set. In the third, it would go all the way to 12-10 with Baldwin Wallace taking the win. The other three matches would be decided in straight sets, as the Yellow Jackets won by a score of 8-1 to remain unbeaten on the season.
Next Up
Franciscan will have two weeks to continue practicing before their next match. They will make the trip to Ashland to take on the Eagles for the second time this season. The NCAA Division II team took down the Barons 9-0 in the fall, but it will be interesting to see how the stack up against them with several players back from Austria. The Eagles were undefeated through the fall season and have a talented roster of players from seven different countries that will provide the Barons with a very tough non-conference test.Â
