Franciscan 4, Macalester 5
Doubles
Doubles would not go as planned with the Barons winning just one matchup. At #3 doubles
Hazel Mistry and
Maggie Gallagher gutted out an 8-7 win to earn a team point. They won the tiebreaker 7-3 to come out with a hard-fought win.
Singles
Lauren Schoenberger kept up her strong play in Florida with a straight-sets win at the #5 spot.
Maria Herrera won in the same fashion at #1.
Kina Ehlers would come from one set down to win at #2, but that would be it for the Barons.
Emma Howard narrowly fell at #6 with it going all the way to a tiebreaker.
The Barons ended the trip with a 1-4 record, but they would get several younger players a lot of experience to continue their growth on and off the court.
Next Up
Franciscan will continue to play this spring with a couple of non-conference contests. Their next match will be on Saturday March 23rd at home when Baldwin Wallace comes to Steubenville. The Barons are 3-1 all-time against the Yellow Jackets, as they have won their last three matches against them.
