Franciscan 0, #9 Carnegie Mellon 9
Franciscan picked up a final match to end the spring with #9 Carnegie Mellon. The Barons entered the match 0-1 in their lone previous matchup against the Tartans which came back in 2021. They had also played on their campus for the 2022 First Round of the NCAA Tournament when they played North Central College
Doubles
Maria Herrera and
Kina Ehlers battled at the #1 spot against a very talented duo from Carnegie Mellon bu dropped 8-0.
Jordan Beltavski and
Delaney Dawson earned a point, as they fell 8-1.
Isabella Matt and
Olivia Stewart battled at #3 doubles in their final collegiate match.
Singles
Maria Herrera showed off her talents and gave the #2 rated player in the region all hat she could handle at #1 singles. A back and forth first set narrowly went to Sarah Yang by a score of 7-6 before she would win the second set.
Kina Ehlers and
Delaney Dawson would fall 6-0, 6-0.
Hazel Mistry and Lauren Schoenebrger would each take one point in the opening set of their matches but fall in straight sets.
Jordan Beltavski battled at #3 to a score of 6-2 before a 6-0 final set.
Next Up
This concludes the 2023-24 season for Franciscan Women's Tennis, as they will not return to action until next fall. Their 2024 fall schedule which will include the PAC conference slate, will be released over the summer.
