SAINT LOUIS - Aaron Heinlein and
Christopher Yvars represented Franciscan at the Division III ITA Central Region Championship over the weekend. The faced off against some of the most-talented players in the region in doubles and singles play to start the 2024-25 season.
Doubles
The Barons drew a pair from Kenyon in the opening round. They battled back and forth but fell 8-3. Later on Friday, they took on Kalamazoo in the consolation round. Franciscan dropped that match to end their run in doubles for the the tournament.
Singles
In the round of 128, Yvars and Heinlein each drew a player from Ohio Wesleyan. Yvars battled in a close match but lost 6-4, 6-2. Heinlein held his own but lost in straight sets 6-3, 6-1. They each would then go to the consolation round of 32 and fall in tough draws. The event was a great test for the young duo, as they look to continue to elevate their game after very successful freshman seasons.
Next Up
Franciscan was slated to take on Baldwin Wallace this weekend, but that match has been postponed. The next scheduled contest will be at home on October 11th against Washington & Jefferson. It will be a non-conference matchup against the Presidents, as they both compete during their non-traditional fall season.
