How It HappenedÂ
Franciscan Women's Basketball took on Grove City on Kuzma Day in Steubenville. The Wolverines came out hot in the opening quarter with 33 points, but the Barons adjusted defensively to battle back into this game. They won the second quarter 17-10 while holding Grove City to 17.65% shooting in the second quarter. They trailed 43-29 at the half.
Grove City locked down the Barons in the third quarter and forced several turnovers. The Barons were able to cut the lead to 11 points but then would go on a long scoring drought. The Wolverines ended the quarter on a 10-0 run to take a 22-point lead into the fourth quarter.
Caroline Reedy stopped the run with two of her 12 points in the early going of the fourth. Franciscan had their best offensive production in the fourth with 22 points, but it was not enough to overcome the large lead of Grove City.
