How it Happened
Natalie Smith led the Barons on Tuesday with a 92. She got in a rhythm on the harder, back nine. She parred #12 and #13 before making birdie on the par five #14. She bogeyed three of her final four holes to card a 45 on the back nine. Her 189 over the two days is the sixth-best 36-hole performance by a Baron.
Lauren David tied her collegiate-best round and improved upon her Monday round with a 99. Her highlight came on #3, as she birdied the difficult par three. She played that hole one under for the tournament after an impressive par there on Monday. She played the par threes well all day, as she was one over par on them.
Catherine Ehresman opened up with 49 on the front nine. That nine included a pair of pars, and then she closed out the back nine with a 54 to card a 103.
Chloe Puhl started out slow, but then improved on the closing nine. She shot a 54 on the front, and then recorded a 52 on the back nine, including a par on 16 to shoot a 106.
Katie Black carded a 113. She had five bogeys and made a par on #13. That hole the best hole for the Barons on Tuesday, as the five golfers combined to play it two over, including three pars.
Westminster was picked to win the championship via the Coaches' Poll and has lived up to the hype. They sit in first, but the top six spots could see a lot of movement in the spring, as they are all within a few shots of each other.
