How It Happened
Typically for game two McDaniels is the starting pitcher. McDaniels strongest positions are 3B and SS, but is typically needed to pitch. For the first time in her career she wasn't the starting pitcher for either game in a doubleheader. That is a testament to the improving freshmen class and pitching from Cook and Linden.
After three great innings in game one, coach gave Linden the start in the circle for game two. However, by game two the Titans had figured out the timing and with bases loaded, zero outs, and one run scored coach decided to put McDaniels in the circle. McDaniels masterfully got out of the inning allowing zero hits and zero runs.
To follow up the great defensive stand, Davis hit a double in her at bat then was followed by a Home Run from McDaniels to give the Barons a 2-1 lead.
The excitement from the lead didn't last long. The Titans grabbed six runs in the top of the second and then scored atleast one run in each preceding inning. The Barons had a couple more hits a few chances at scoring, but were blanked through the fifth inning.
