How It Happened
Prior to yesterday's doubleheader, the Barons honored their lone senior and one of the greatest Franciscan softball players of all-time
Kimberly McDaniels. She was joined by her parents who flew in from Tucson, Arizona for the occasion. McDaniels is top of the record book in batting average and doubles hit. In just three short seasons she set a mark on Franciscan softball starting with a bang by winning the PAC Player of the Year award as a freshmen.
McDaniels pitched game 1. Her father said after the game, "that is the greatest game I have ever seen her pitch". McDaniels faced one of the conferences best offensive teams and held them to only two runs. With McDaniels in circle playing her last game at the field her team stood behind her and played the best defensive game all year. This group has played some tough teams and had moments of greatness for an inning or two, but yesterday they put together a consistent seven inning effort.
Unfortunately, the Tornadoes were focused defensively and the Barons couldn't get anything going on offense. They were blanked and lost the first game 0-2.

How It Happened
In game 2 the Barons had a couple of tough innings that allowed the game to get out of reach late. McDaniels was 0-3 at the plate in game 1 and was 1 for 3 in game 2 leaving her one hit shy of the 100 hit career milestone. An apology to all live stream viewers. Our commentators miscounted McDaniels hits and called her 100th hit incorrectly.
