How It Happened
The Barons begin their 2026 Spring campaign with a matchup against Cornell College. The game was not exciting if you like to see people running around bases, but the clean fundamental softball played both ways was nice. It was 7 innings of good pitching, and clean fielding with only one error either way. Cornell managed five hits compared to Franciscan's two, but congregated them in the 4th inning leading to two runs which they hung on to for the rest of the game.

How It Happened
Game two saw much more offense. The Barons had a monster inning early to take a commanding 4-0 lead. However, Fitchburg had a big inning of their own scoring three runs in the 6th to go down one. The Barons were blanked in the top of the 7th, but still lead 4-3. With two outs and a runner on first, there was a good chance they were getting out of the Fitchburg rally with a win. However, the opposition pulled a walk-off two run homer to go up one and end the game.
