WESTERVILLE, OHIO - Franciscan women's tennis opened up Saturday with a 4-2 win against Capital, but later saw its unbeaten streak come to an end Saturday afternoon, as it fell to Indiana University East by a score of 6-1. 

How It Happened (vs Capital)
Doubles
In doubles, Paige Mattle and Hazel Mistry won at the #2 spot by a score of 6-1. The #3 pair of Emily Hunter and Sophia Pastura won their match via forfeit, while the #1 pair of Jordan Beltavski and Colette Park were unable to finish their match.

Singles
In singles, Beltavski played in the #1 slot, falling in two sets. In the #2 position, Park won the second set 6-3 to force a tiebreaker, but lose 6-2 in set three. Mattle went on to win at #3 in two sets, winning 6-1, 6-0, while Pastura won at #4 in two sets, both by a 6-2 decision. To clinch the win, Mila Esposito won at #6 via forfeit.

How It Happened (vs IU East)
Doubles
The Barons face a deficit early, despite some hardfought battles in the doubles matches. Park and Beltavski lost at the #1 spot 6-4, whereas Mattle and Mistry lost 6-1 at #2. At the #3 spot, Hunter and Pastura lost by a score of 6-4.

Singles
Beltavski got the Barons a win at the #1 spot in singles, winning 6-1, 6-2. Park followed, losing 6-2, 6-1. Mattle was back again playing in the #3 position, as she lost 7-5 and 6-0 in her sets. IU East won the following three sets to confirm the Barons' first loss of the season, with Pastura, Mistry, and Esposito all falling in singles play.

Next Up
Franciscan will have over a week off from action, with its next match occuring on September 23. On that day, the Barons will have its first road conference match, playing Westminster at 4:30 PM.
