Maura Carapellotti

Maura (Conant) Carapellotti served as Head Coach for Francisan for 10 seasons from 2012-2022. She returned in 2024 as the Director of Lacrosse Development.

The 2022 season was another successful one, as the Lady Barons made the PAC semifinals for the third time in school history. Grace Deegan and Elizabeth Dudas earned First Team All-PAC honors. Joanna Hilkert and Annie King earned Second Team honors, and Margaret McKee earned Honorable Mention recognition.

The Lady Barons went 4-4 in the conference only shortened 2021 season. They earned a birth in the PAC Playoffs as the #4 seed. They fell to the eventual champions in Washington & Jefferson

The Lady Barons went 0-4 in the 2020 season, before the remainder of the season was canceled due to the COVID-19 outbreak. 

The Lady Barons went 8-7, including a trip to the Presidents' Athletic Conference tournament in their first season in the conference. Against PAC teams, Franciscan went 5-2 in the first year of competition. . She coached freshman Grace Deegan, as she set a program record for points (72) and goals (58) in a season by a Lady Baron. 

Carapellotti has guided 23 players to earned all-conference honors, including five All-PAC honorees in 2019. Senior Elizabeth Jordan also earned the program's first ECAC All-Star selection as she was named a second-team defender. In 2018, Mary Krolicki earned Player of the Year in the AMCC 

Also under Carapellotti’s direction, the women's lacrosse team has earned seven IWLCA team academic awards and had 10 players named to the IWLS All-Academic Team over the last ten seasons. 

During their time in the AMCC prior to joining the PAC, the Lady Barons went 4-2 in the abbreviated conference and won the inaugural showcase in 2017. Franciscan earned nine all-conference selections as members of the AMCC.

In 2017, the Lady Barons set the program's win record with a 9-7 slate and played very well at home during the season. Franciscan went 6-1 on Memorial Field and over that span, the Lady Barons won five-straight games and outscored opponents 107-61 at home.

In 2016 FUS finished 8-5, their second-best season in the books. That year marked Franciscan’s first 100-goal scorer, Tracy McClelland, who finished her career with 115 goals and 19 assists.

Carapellotti grew up in Stirling, N.J., and played field hockey for four years during high school. While attending The County College at Morris in New Jersey, she taught physical education for grades K-12 from 2005-2008 at Koinonia Academy in Plainfield, N.J. In 2006, Carapellotti established two girls’ club field hockey teams at the academy and coached them for two years.

Carapellotti transferred Franciscan University in 2008 and, earning a BA in history and MA in counseling.

Carapellotti resides in Steubenville with her husband Franco.
