Kaleena Davidson’s passion for volleyball took root in the Ohio Valley, where she began to learn the importance of hard work, determination, and perseverance—qualities that would help lay a foundation for collegiate success.

A Wintersville native, Davidson began playing club volleyball in fifth grade and continued playing locally until she moved to Mt. Lebanon, Pennsylvania, after finishing eighth grade.

The starting libero for the Nittany Lions from 2002-2005, Davidson was named 2005’s Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year. She was a 2005 AVCA Honorable Mention All-American and a two-time First Team All-Big Ten selection, as well as a member of three Big Ten championship squads. She holds Penn State’s top three single-season and all-time career digs records and set a school record with 44 digs in a match against Minnesota in 2004.

Success on the court led Davidson to success in coaching, first as an assistant coach from 2007-2009 for the College of Charleston, whose teams won two regular-season Southern Conference championships as well as the tournament title in 2007 to advance to the NCAA first round. She returned to Penn State as an assistant volleyball coach from 2009-2013, helping the team to three national championships and four Big Ten championships. Responsible for recruiting, she signed the top class in the country in 2014, including the number one recruit.

Currently a student-athlete mentor, Davidson earned a master’s degree in higher education in December of 2015 from Penn State and hopes to work as an academic advisor for student-athletes. She continues to hone her leadership skills by coaching at defense-passing camps at Franciscan University and the Pittsburgh area and has traveled as far as New Jersey and Colorado to share her talent.

Davidson and her husband, Cameron, live in Port Matilda, Pennsylvania, with their infant daughter, Ansley.
