MARIETTA – The Franciscan men's and women's track and field team turned in a number of personal records and added two ECAC qualifying times, Saturday.
Junior Bernadette Williams not only set a personal best in the 1,500-meter run, but she earned DIII All-Ohio honors with her seventh-place time of 5:08.19. Williams posted a personal-best in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:33.16 to take 13th overall. Freshman Beth Flanagan also PR'd in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 5:19.86 to take ninth overall.
Williams and Flanagan helped the Lady Baron 4x400 meter relay team to an eighth-place finish with a time of 4:36.88. The two were joined by sophomore Janelle Lunde and freshman Morgan Litterer.
Lunde took fifth overall in the triple jump with a DIII All-Ohio mark of 9.82 meters. The Thousand Oaks, CA native also took fifth overall in the 400-meter hurdles as she crossed the finish line at 1:14.22.
Litterer came in 12th overall in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 1:06.65 while freshman Victoria Snell hit a PR in the 5,000-meter run with a time of 23:58.33.
On the men's side, freshman Liam Galligan continued to add to his ECAC qualifying list as he earned a spot in the 1,500-meter run in the postseason meet. Galligan won the race with a time of 4:04.97, which not only earned him ECAC honors but DIII All-Ohio as well with his PR. Freshman Mark Borek was not far behind Galligan as he took second overall with a time of 4:05.03, both an ECAC qualifier and DIII All-Ohio mark. Junior Nicholas Long took fourth overall in the 1,500-meter run with a time of 4:06.37 to earn DIII All-Ohio honors as well. All three runners set their personal best in the race.
Junior Grady Stuckman earned DIII All-Ohio honors with his personal best time of 16:12.41 to take fifth overall. Long was not far behind Stuckman as he took seventh overall with a time of 16:17.93 and freshman Athanasius Sirilla set a personal-best with a time of 16:22.92 to take eighth overall. Freshman Matt Murphy set his personal best in the 5K as well as he finished with a time of 20:28.70.
Freshman Easton Syvertson took 14th overall in the 400-meter dash with a personal-best time of 58.02. Senior Carlo Fabian took fifth overall in the race with a time of 52.41.
Sophomore Matthew Crotteau turned in a personal-best performance in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:08.00.
The track and field teams now prepare for the CSAC championship meet beginning on May 4 at Gwynedd Mercy College.
