Athletes to Watch
12 women are slated to compete for Franciscan on Thursday. Four Barons were listed as Athletes to Watch.
Lauren Dosch (Jr. Grand Forks, N.D. / Red River) will have a busy day on Thursday. She is competing in three events. She comes into the Championship seeded second in the 800m with a time of 2:18.57 from the Doug Raymond Invitational. She will also compete in both relays for the Barons. The DMR team comes in with the fourth-fastest time in the PAC, but Dosch was not part of that time, that was at the YSU Mid Major. The 4x400 relay is seeded fifth with a time of 4:18.14 from the YSU Last Chance that was two weeks ago.Â
She looks to add some All-PAC accolades to her very impressive two previous seasons at Franciscan. She is already an 8x All-PAC runner in Track & Field with four honors coming in Indoor and four in Outdoor. She was named Second Team All-PAC in the 800m and First Team in the DMR at last year's indoor championship.
Emily Maag (So. Cleona, Pa. / Annville Cleona Secondary) will compete in the mile and DMR. Her time of 5:25.11 from the YSU Last Chance has her seeded 11th in the mile. She will be along Dosch in the DMR where she will likely run the 1600m anchor leg.
Maria McInnis (So. Bloomingdale, Ohio / Steubenville Catholic Central) will be one of the first Barons to compete on Thursday. She will compete in the long jump and 60m dash. She will have a great opportunity to reach the podium in the long jump. She enters this week seeded eighth. Her time of 8.57 seconds is the 18th fastest in the PAC so far this season.
Teresa Meli (Jr. Tallahassee, Fla. / Homeschool) may run the most of any Baron, as she will run in the 3000m and 5000m. She enters the 5000m with the eighth-fastest time in the PAC. She posted that time at the YSU Mid Major, which was nearly one month ago. Her time of 11:15.49 in the 3000m is the 16th fastest in the PAC, but she has not competed in that event since January 16th.Â
