STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan women's tennis team opened its Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference schedule with a 9-0 win over Penn State Altoona, Thursday evening.

The Short Story: Franciscan got off to a quick start to the match with three-straight wins in doubles action. The Lady Barons went on to sweep singles action as well, dropping just eight points in the six matches for their first conference win of the year.
How it Happened
• Freshmen duo of
Estelle Leon and
Haley Davinsizer continue to work well with each other in doubles play as the two put Franciscan up early with an 8-1 win at No. 3 Doubles.

Madelyn Conrad and junior
Ana Victoria Haddad got back on the court together after a brief absence for an 8-3 win at No. 1 doubles for the Lady Barons.

Grace Hammel and junior
Zoey Stapleton finished off the doubles sweep with an 8-5 win at No. 2 Doubles.
• Conrad and freshman
Caroline Picard swept their singles opponents at No. 1 and No. 6 respectively by scores of 6-0, 6-0.
• Leon dropped just one game in her No. 3 singles match as she closed out a 6-1, 6-0 win for the Lady Barons.
• Haddad won her first singles match back since August 30 by scores of 6-1, 6-1 at No. 2 Singles while Hammel (6-1, 6-2) and Stapleton (6-2, 6-0) picked up win at No. 4 and No. 5 Singles.
What it Means
• Franciscan pushed its all-time record against the Lions to 12-1with the win.
• For the eighth season in a row, Franciscan has opened AMCC action with a win.
• The Lady Barons improved to 1-2 on the early season.
