STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan women's tennis team improved to 5-3 on the year with a 7-2 win over non-conference opponent, Grove City, Tuesday afternoon.

Zoey Stapleton won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 4 singles to clinch the match win for the Lady Barons. Franciscan went on to win No. 5 and No. 6 singles to take the match 7-2.
How it Happened
• With the Lady Barons leading 4-2 in the match, Stapleton won her first set 6-2 before shutting out her opponent 6-0 in the final set to clinch the match win for Franciscan.

Grace Hammel combined for an 8-6 win at No. 2 doubles to give Franciscan a 2-1 lead after doubles action.

Estelle Leon and
Haley Davinsizer won at No. 3 doubles for Franciscan's first win of the afternoon.

Madelyn Conrad won a hard-fought match at No. 1 singles 7-5, 7-5 for the 3-1 lead in the match.
• Leon won a tie-break 10-7 at No. 3 singles after winning the first set 6-1 and dropping the second set 7-5.
• Davinsizer won at No. 6 singles 6-1, 6-0 in the final match of the evening while freshman
Caroline Picard took the No. 5 singles match 6-2, 6-1.

Ana Victoria Haddad won the second set 6-1 to even the match. Haddad dropped the tie-break, 11-9, but not without a tough battle for her opponent.
