STEUBENVILLE – The Franciscan women's soccer team suffered a tough 2-0 loss to Hiram in the Lady Barons' home opener, Saturday afternoon.
The Terriers struck first as Kaitlyn Harris got Hiram on the board in the 13
th minute. Hannah Ward sent a long ball in the box from the left of the goal for Harris who snuck the ball into the near post.

Katie Kilian put a great ball on net just four minutes later but was stopped by the Hiram goalie, Ally Green.
The Lady Barons out-shot the Terries 9-4 in the first half, including a 5-3 shot on goal differential.
Following the break, Ward got the first shot of the half off but the Lady Baron keeper,
Marita Ostrich made the save to keep it a one-goal game. In the 68
th minute, Sam Minor put the Terriers up 2-0 off Ward's second assist of the game.
Junior
Marykate Bateman got the final shot of the game off for the Lady Barons and she collected the ball just outside the top of the box and sent a shot toward the goal but Green made her 10
th save of the game to keep the shut out.
The Terriers got two more shots off that were both saved and hung on for the 2-0 win in Steubenville.
Franciscan out-shot Hiram 18-13 and held a 7-6 advantage in corner kicks. Ostrich finished the day with nine saves, including seven in the second half.
The Lady Barons will hit the road again next week as they travel to Geneva on Wednesday for a 5pm contest in Beaver Falls, PA.
